Irish post-punk four piece In Athens will be releasing their new single “Dead Reckoning” on Friday, September 4. It is the first new music since their debut EP “Mirrorism” in 2025.

The single is released on all streaming platforms on September 4; there will be a second single, “Voltage Party“, in early October, and the two tracks will see a very limited vinyl release as a lathe cut 7” single on red vinyl around that date.
Recorded and produced at Darklands Audio Dublin by Dan Doherty (Fontaines DC, Hope Sandoval), “Dead Reckoning” is a fuzz-bass driven monster of a track with the sweet vocals of Gráinne Bleasdale, sometimes twinned with guitarist Manolis Pates, riding a loud/quiet dynamic which continually adds interest.

In Athens‘ music reflects their location at the meeting point of Connemara, Galway and the wild Atlantic. Their music is a powerful blend of fuzz-drenched post-gaze nostalgia and razor-sharp modern post-punk energy, creating an evocative soundscape that reflects the majestic beauty, raw power and shimmering tranquillity of their surroundings.
In Athens deal in 90s alternative tones, with a dash of shoegaze sprinkle here and there, but for them it’s not about looking back. They are interested in contrast. Warmth and detachment. Collapse and control. They like when things sound familiar but feel slightly off, as if you’re hearing a dream from another room.
